It was developed by the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) and released for commercial cultivation in the year 2017. This variety of rice is exactly the improved variety of Pusa 1121 and has extraordinary grain length, around 8.4 millimeters (0.33 in) for a single grain. Its elongation ratio ranges from 2 to 2.5 times. It doesn’t stick even after cooking and has minimum breadth-wise expansion. The seeds of this variety are much bolder and shinier than Pusa 1121 variety.
